If you share our appreciation for a clean home without the toxic ingredients found in many cleaners, you’ve likely tried a lot of cleaning products. Many natural cleaning products boast a nice ingredient list but often fall short in performance. From our test homes, here are the best non-toxic cleaning products that actually work.
Force of Nature
Our go-to disinfectant for kitchens and bathrooms that’s as effective as Clorox or Lysol, without the harsh ingredients.
Method Dishwasher Pods
Many of the natural pods leave a filmy residue on dishes. This one leaves your glasses sparkling. Inspired by TikTok, we recently made the switch of placing the pod in an empty slot in the utensil holder (on the bottom rack) instead of the opening on the dishwasher door and found it cleaned much more consistently.
Begley’s Best Earth Responsible Hardwood Floor Cleaner
We used to use a cedar-based formula but found it often left streaks and a very strong fragrance. We love that this one isn’t sticky and has a very subtle natural lemon scent.
Bona Hard Surface Floor Cleaner
This cleaner works consistently well across surfaces. It doesn’t leave streaks or sticky residue. We use this with a Bissel steam cleaner on both tile and hardwood floors to get the best results.
Biokleen Bac-Out Bathroom Cleaner
Biokleen makes many effective, natural products, and the bathroom cleaner is no exception. It works really well on shower grout without any strong bleach scent.
Biokleen Sport Laundry Detergent
The search for a ‘better’ laundry detergent that doesn’t contain fragrances has been VERY difficult. I’ll be honest when it comes to athletic clothes, this one doesn’t do quite as well as some of the mainstream options, but it’s the best of the dozens that we’ve tried. We use it for all towels, sheets, and baby clothes and prefer it to other natural options.
