If you're like us, seeing a heaping bowl of blended fruit, granola, and nut butter on our feed ignites an instant Pavlovian response. We put together the most drool-worthy, pitaya (aka Dragon Fruit) smoothie bowl we've ever seen at our latest photoshoot.
Not only is the vibrant magenta a stunning color, but Dragon Fruit also has numerous evidence-based health benefits. It's high in nutrients and fiber, it's packed with antioxidants which may help fight chronic disease, it promotes a healthy gut (and you know we love a robust microbiome), and it's a good source of magnesium, something many of us (especially women) don't get enough of.
In all honesty, we were just planning on throwing one together without much thought but knew we had to share this healthy, smoothie bowl recipe as soon as we saw how beautiful the finished product looked. This is our new go-to breakfast, lunch, dessert, and snack. Trust us, you have to try it!
The Dorai Pitaya Bowl
For the base:
-2 Packets of Frozen Pitaya Packets (we used PitayaPlus)
-1 Cup of Your Favorite Fruit Juice or Coconut Milk (if you use coconut milk, you might add some sweetener as well!)
-A frozen banana (optional, but gives some sweetness and texture!)
For the toppings:
Have fun, be creative with this part! But here's what we used:
- Purely Elizabeth Honey Granola (our FAVORITE)
- Edible flowers (can be found at a luxury grocery store)
- Chopped Fresh Banana
- Chopped Fresh Strawberries
- A sprinkle of pumpkin seeds
- A sprinkle of chia seeds
- Top with a sprinkle of shredded coconut
If you make this, or a version of it be sure to tag us at @doraihome! We want to see what you create.
